We are so pleased to welcome the newest additions to the Winding Creek herd, Stetson and Blossom! They are the first mules to live on the farm. We are especially lucky because have both been approved for therapeutic riding! So exciting! Make sure to come out to volunteer with us to get the chance to work with these cool animals! Now a little bit more about each mule:

This adorable fella is Stetson! With perhaps the perkiest ears on the farm, Stetson is a donkey-pony cross.
This strong and sturdy mule is Blossom! Blossom is donkey-draft cross and seems to rival Tucker in size! The extra special thing about her is that she has only one eye!

Join us for more adventures with Stetson and Blossom, and be sure to stay up-to-date by following us on Instagram and liking us on Facebook!

 A Successful Day!

Last Saturday we got to celebrate two successes for Equinox and it's community! We are so pleased to welcome Kathy as a new Therapeutic Riding Instructor! She led the team in a very successful and enjoyable lesson on Saturday! Congratulations Kathy!! We are also so proud of IW who rode his horse for the first time in about a month in a half on Saturday! After some pretty significant changes, but dedicated persistence from our team and IW's caregivers, IW got on his horse Blue and rode for about 30 minutes! This was definitely a huge moment for everyone, and even more special that we had Kathy as our instructor to enjoy this moment with us! Thank you and congratulations to everyone on that day. It is incredible to see the progress and the impact we have on each other and our community. Here is a picture of IW riding Blue!

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the volunteer training session on April 9th! It was a great day of learning despite the cold! While learning how to be good side-walkers, leaders, and overall volunteers, we strengthened existing relationships and made many new ones. As a volunteer corp at Equinox, we are a tight-knit family; every one of us is critical to the process and the atmosphere of the organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us! We would love to add you to out family! Don't worry if you weren't able to attend this training session; we can teach you along the way, and there will certainly be more sessions to come! Stay tuned! In the mean time, here are some pictures of the fun we had!

On April 9th, Equinox Horse Foundation will be offering a volunteer training session. This will be an opportunity for new and old volunteers to learn about our organization and the work we do, as well as become trained in working with horses and clients. We will go over safety procedures and protocol regarding how to treat and care for riders and horses. This will be extremely informational, and anyone is welcome! We encourage you to tell your friends and have as many people attend the session as possible!

Volunteering at Equinox Horse Foundation is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will meet amazing people who enjoy helping others and dealing with horses. Not only will you have a great time, you will leave feeling fulfilled. Equinox is such an amazing program, and being a part of it brings joy and an incredible sense of purpose. This fulfillment results in a direct relationship between volunteering and "lower mortality rates, greater functional ability, and lower rates of depression later in life than those who do not volunteer." At Equinox, you will become a part of our family. Join us! Visit the Volunteer Page to get more information and come to the volunteer training session on June 27th! For more information about the training session visit either the Home Page or the Volunteer Page. Hope to see you out there!
